Ward Christmas Party

Remember, the ward Christmas Party is on Saturday, December 18th.
It will be "A Night in Bethlehem" families are welcome to dress in theme.
Please remember to bring 2 dozen cookies with you. A portion of these cookies will be used as dessert after the light dinner that evening. The remainder of the cookies will be added to some "friendship baskets" that we will be putting together that evening. After the baskets have been assembled we will be delivering them to various families in the ward and inviting them to come to church the following day to enjoy our ward Christmas Program.
This Christmas party is unique in that it allows us to spread some love this season and provide some service rather then just having a party and a dinner. It should be a wonderful experience for your entire family. We look forward to seeing you there.

SUPER SATURDAY

Super Saturday is December 4th from 11:00 – 3:00 at the Northside building.

We will be doing various crafts. Some are free and some require a small fee which can be paid to Nikol McKean the day of the event (please make checks payable to Nampa 33rd Ward).

We will also have an area for people who want to bring their Christmas gifts and wrap them. You can bring your own wrapping paper or we will have some on hand.
Lunch will be provided, we will eat around 12:30. We are going to have a dessert potluck so please bring your favorite holiday dessert and a few copies of the recipe.

Please invite your non member and less active friends. Also please help us get the word out by letting the sisters you visit teach know about Super Saturday.

We will have some extra materials available for those that would like to do some of the crafts but did not have the opportunity to sign up. Please note that ALL payments for crafts MUST be made on Saturday and supplies will not be given to anyone that has not yet paid for their items. Any unpaid for items will be returned to the store the following Monday so that it does not go to waste.

We have been unable to garner much interest in assisting in a children's class. We will have space available for the children if you should need to bring your children. Please know that they are still welcome and we will have an area with activities set up for them but parents will ultimately need to be responsible for keeping an eye on their individual children.

Please contact Emily Wilson (503) 757-8483 or Nikol McKean (208) 465-2030 if you have any questions or would like to volunteer!

Our Dear Sister, Marilyn Sheppard

Our dear Sister Marilyn Sheppard passed away this last Monday. She will be dearly missed.
Sister Sheppard was a wonderful friend an example to all that knew her and a truly beautiful soul. She was an ever shining example of faith, love and service.
We can testify to you, without reservation, that our Father in Heaven and our Savior deeply love Marilyn. We testify to you that our savior does have the power to redeem each of us. He has given us all the most wonderful and precious gift of eternal life.
While we will miss Marilyn and we grieve for her family and loved ones, we are comforted in knowing that she is with our Father in Heaven and is no longer subject to the pains and frailties of mortality. May this serve as a blessing and a comfort to us all at this time.
Please know that we are available if any of you should need anything at all.

Sister Marilyn Sheppard's viewing will be held on Saturday, November 27th from 10-10:30am at the Stake Center on Birch ave.
Her funeral will follow the viewing at 10:30am.

SUPER SATURDAY & RELIEF SOCIETY CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON

Ladies, It is nearly time for SUPER SATURDAY! If you have not yet had the chance to check out the crafts we have available for this please stop by the table outside the Relief Society room this coming Sunday and check it out.
This year for SUPER SATURDAY we are placing a lot of emphasis on keeping things simple and provident. The crafts that we have planned are all fairly inexpensive and easy to do. They are crafts that can be made using things that you may possibly have around your home anyway.
In addition to the crafts that you can sign up to make we are also going to have some crafts that are free to everyone. We will be making some paper boxes you can use in your gift giving or for a fun Christmas count down. You can also try your hand at some tree decorations made with paper or using old Christmas cards.
We are combining this SUPER SATURDAY craft day with our Relief Society Christmas Luncheon. Even if you do not enjoy crafts please join us for lunch and some visiting.
We look forward to seeing all of you there on Saturday December 4th at the Northside Building beginning at 11am and running until 3pm.
The Young Women are invited and encouraged to attend as well.
Child Care will be provided.

Single's Fireside

Save the date!
Nampa 33rd ward Single's Fireside - Sunday, October 17th.

Building Cleaning

This month is our Ward's month for building cleaning. Building cleaning takes place on Saturday mornings at 8am. The first and third Saturday those members with a last name beginning with A-L are asked to come help out. The second and fourth Saturday those members with a last name beginning with M-Z are asked to help out.
Don't worry, if you come on a Saturday that does not correspond with your last name, there will be no complaints! The more the merrier.

Hooray for Primary

The Primary is in the process of preparing for the Primary program. The Primary program is a large undertaking and the Primary Presidency, Music Leader, Pianist and Teachers all put a great deal of effort into this wonderful program. What a blessing to have them assisting us in the spiritual education of the children of our ward.
If you have a child in Primary please encourage and assist them in their own personal preparations for this program. The Primary still has some copies of the Primary Program songs for this year. If you did not get a CD or just need another copy they would love to make sure that your family receives one. Please speak with any member of the Primary Presidency to get one.

Listen to and Prepare for General Conference

Sisters,
We want to remind you again that General Conference will be on Saturday, October 2nd and Sunday, October 3rd.
What a blessing to have a living Prophet to guide us. What a blessing to be able to receive council from our Father in Heaven through this Prophet.
If we put in the effort of prayerfully preparing to receive the teachings of our Prophet we will be all the more blessed. We can receive answers to prayers, needed guidance, uplifted spirits and renewed faith. These and many other blessings are ours if we will put in the work and preparation to claim them.
We challenge each of you to prayerfully prepare to hear the words of our Prophet this coming General Conference. Prepare to act upon the things that will be taught. It is our promise that in doing so you will be blessed. You will be uplifted and encouraged. You will receive inspiration and guidance. You will be better equipped to incorporate the Lord's gospel and teachings into your lives.
Have a Wonderful Conference weekend! We love you very much and are so pleased to have such a unique opportunity to get to know you all.

Love, Your Relief Society Presidency

Sisters, remember there is a ward Relief Society Activity scheduled for Tuesday, September 21st at 7pm. We have invited a couple of other wards to join us. We'd like as many people as possible to have the opportunity to share in this wonderful activity. Sister Janet Thurgood from the 13th ward will be speaking to us, singing for us and uplifting our spirits.
Janet will be sharing some wonderful incites into the scriptures and some great things we can incorporate into our personal scripture study.
The program Janet is planning to share is amazing! I have yet to mention it to anyone that has heard it before that they haven't expressed to me how awesome it is. Janet incorporates her unbelievable talent for singing along with some of her personal experiences into an already wonderful, spiritual topic.
Make sure to bring your scriptures! (We will provide the tissues.)
The activity will be held in the Stake Center Gym. Refreshments and a Children's Class will be provided.

Do you have any baby stuff you'd like to get rid of? How about a wheat grinder to lend?

Sister Gina Penney has gotten a large amount of wheat and is trying to find someone who has a wheat grinder that she can use. She would also need to be shown how to grind the wheat.
Also, Gina's sister is expecting a baby girl. She does not live in the area but will be passing trough later this week. She is in need of girl clothes and the other baby necessities. If you happen to have any baby girl clothes or other baby items that you are trying to get rid of Gina would love to take them off your hands for her sister.
If you can help Gina with her wheat or have any baby stuff she can take off of your hands please give her a call.

PLAY GROUP REMINDER

There is an ongoing play group meeting on Wednesdays at 9:30. It meets at the Little John Park. (off Canterbury in the Sherwood subdivision) This park has worked out well in previous years. It is pretty enclosed which tends to help with keeping the little ones corralled. Also, there is plenty of space for older children to bring a soccer ball or something to play with. Bring snacks and drinks if you like and stay as long or as little as you want to. It is a good idea to bring a blanket or something to sit on.
This group is a lot of fun for the kids and a nice chance for the adults to get out and chat and enjoy the sunshine! If you don't have children or you have children that may be too young or too old to be interested in a play group, please feel welcome to come and enjoy the company and conversation.
This is not specifically a "Relief Society" activity it is an on-going neighborhood group that anyone is welcome to enjoy. Come as often as works for you and your family. There is no obligation, it is very low key.
If you have any questions on anything or need directions to the park please contact Stacy Jepson. sjs0313@yahoo.com

In your fasts and prayers

Sisters, we have been asked by our good bishop to specifically keep the Tripple and Denny families in mind. Please join us in our fasts and prayers for these families as they face both new and on-going trials with their sweet babies.
We know that many of your prayers are already with them and all other members of our wonderful ward as various trials and needs arise. That love and concern is felt by us all.
Please join with our ward family in including these families in our prayers and fasting this week.
May they feel the loving hand of the Lord in their lives and the love and support that we all have for them now and every day.

Carrie Herteux

It has come as such a tremendous shock to all of us that Sis. Carrie Herteux has passed away this week.  We all miss her and wish we could spare her family having to carry this load. We appreciate all the offers of assistance we have received and we'll have a good idea of what we can do to ease their burden soon.  We'll let everyone know as soon as we can.  Until then please know that we are available if you should need to talk.

Sis. Herteux was such an example of moving her life and her family toward Christ.  The prophet Abinadi testified of our Savior's love and power to redeem us when he said "They are raised to dwell with God who has redeemed them: thus they have eternal life throught Christ, who has broken the bands of death." (Mosiah 15:23)

We can also testify that our Savior loves Carrie and her family more then we can even comprehend.  He has the power to reunited Carrie to her beautiful family and we'll have the opportunity to rejoice in a reunion with her.

Krazy Coupon Class

Ladies,
We want to have a "Krazy Coupon Class" for you.
There are several in the ward that use coupons, I am sure there are several that would like to use coupons. We will be taught by those who use their coupons well. We will learn how to order multiple newspapers at a discount price, how to organize your coupons in a binder and of course how to use them and what policies different stores have.
We will provide a nursery for those who need it. The class will be on Tues. January 19th @7pm in the R.S. Room. Come and learn how to save $ and build up our food storage!
