Donation for Christmas Goody Baskets

During this Christmas season where we often think of all that we have been given, we look for opportunities to bless others as well.  In that spirit it has been a tradition for our ward to put together baskets full of goodies to pass around to others.  Here is a list of common items we would like to include in our baskets this year. If you would like to donate any of these items please have them to a member of the RS Presidency by Tues Dec 22nd.  We'll update this list as we start having items filled.

We are still looking for these items:

Canned Fruits - 24 cans
Canned Tuna-approx 15 cans
boxed Macaroni & Cheese
Jam - 12 store bought
Sugar- 4 , 5 lbs bags
Oranges & Apples - as many lbs. as we can get
Or any other donation you feel will make the season brighter!

Thank you all for your generous spirit which demonstrates our love of Christ especially during the season that celebrates his birth.  Merry Christmas!

Seven Wives Inn Granola

Here's a delicious way to use those Cannery Oats.  Yumm!

8 C. Oats (Non-instant)
1 1/2 C Brown Sugar
1 1/2 C Wheat Germ  (Optional)
8 Oz. Almonds
8 Oz. Cashew
8 Oz Shredded Coconut
2 Oz Sunflower Seeds

1/2 C Water
1/2 C Oil
1/2 C Honey
1/2 C Peanut butter
2 tsp Vanilla

1 C Raisins (Optional)

Mix first 7 ingredients in large bowl.  Heat water, oil, honey and peanut butter until it begins to boil.  Add vanilla to mixture and pour over dry ingredients.  Mix well and spread on 2 large cookie sheets.  Bake at 200 for about 2 hours or until coconut is golden.  Stir occasionally while baking.  Add raisins when cool.  Store in airtight container.  Mix this recipe up with whatever goodies or lack of goodies you have on hand.  Even without the extras it is really wonderful for breakfast.
